RE: Driving on pismo beach sand

Was just there this weekend.
Stay at Pismo Coast Village and you wont regret it.
I have a dually and even aired down sunk right to the axles once I stepped off the hard pack.
Not worth it to me. I just stay in the campground as it is quieter and I have hook ups.
I have a Polaris RZR and couldnt find anyone to get it to the sand for me.
I called the local ATV rental companies and offered to pay for a ride over for the RZR but they said no.
Next time I will have a friend join me with his small truck and trailer and put the RZR on that.
If there is a better way let me know.
If you dont have a lot of toys I would definitely stay in a park

RE: Calif drivers license

I took the test and am the proud owner of a Non Comm Class A for my 15,500 GVWR 5'er.
While it is true that most CHP dont know what to ask for as far as licensing RV's, I got it in case there is an accident and a plaintiff's lawyer finds out I am not properly licensed.
If there is a wreck and you dont have the license you may be in a pickle.
Also, when they start checking and you are 8 hours from home and get pinched it would be a hassle to deal with.
I heard they confiscated some haulers in Glamis about 6 months ago but I cannot confirm it.

RE: FS25 at Kennedy Meadows

I have a friend who wants to go up there but I have a 39 foot TH 5'er and a Dodge Dually.
Could I make it up there?
If not is there a place close by where we could camp and then take another car and trailer up top with the RZR in tow?

RE: RV Endorsement

I took the Non Comm Class A test a few months ago and I would argue that it is straightforward.
I took it in Escondido CA and it took about an hour an a half.
The pre trip inspection went over the whole truck, the hitch and the trailer as well as all the safety gear like triangles, fire extinguisher, etc. they have you checking fluids, tread depth on tires, wipers, etc. You dont actually check them but you have to show him what you would check. they want you checking everything... Tranny fluid, oil, brake fluid, lug nuts, etc...
If you miss these things you go home.
The driving test was two part. First part in a parking lot, second part in the streets for about 35 minutes.
In the parking lot if you hit one cone you go home. You do all sorts of maneuvers, back into a loading dock, etc..
I was pretty sure I was going to fail but I made all the maneuvers and passed the test.
The street test was full of tricks also. You would pass a sign and a minute later he asked what the height was. They tried to catch you at every opportunity.
If you are sharp and know how to drive as well as the laws you can obviously pass but this isnt like a car license where you drive around the corner and they give you the license.

RE: Class Non Commercial Driving Test

You want the Non Comm Class A.
It lets you drive non commercial trailers and 5'ers up to 26K pounds.
She is wrong.
I took the test a few months ago.
Pretty intensive.
Make sure you can do the pre check. The tester told me at least half the people fail due to the pre check.
Any other specific questions PM me and I will help all I can.

RE: Class Non Commercial Driving Test

Are you speaking about the non comm class A for 5'ers over 15K GVWR and Trailers over 10K GVWR?
What is the class B for?
I took the Non Comm Class A test a few months ago.
If it is similar I can help you.

RE: Hungry Valley

I found the training ground which had "stairs" and some other obstacles.
I am thinking that is what you meant as it is on the other side of Aliklik.
Fun stuff.. I will definitely go back..
Got to try Vic's Cat, it is right off Backbone and is just as crazy.

RE: Hungry Valley

We ended up in Circle Canyon. It was tough backing in the 5'er into the campsite but once we were in it was perfect.
I liked the Backbone Trail and the Vics Cat. There was some hairy turns on the side of the mountain that we had to slide down but it was a blast. Also a few places to get air on the trail.

RE: Hungry Valley

Just got back from Hungry Valley.
Easily the best place I have ever ridden.
Went up the Backbone Trail, Vic's Cat, Freeman Trail, Power Line Rd.
Had a great time.
Here are some pics. Thanks for all the advice.

RE: Hole in my attitude. Now what?

I did the same thing.
My dealer had a guy who came by and made it look like new for a couple of hundred.
I would call any local dealer and they should be able to refer you to someone.

RE: Hit by car during a break from a MSF class

The thing car drivers dont realize is a little accident such as this can end with the motorcycle rider in a wheel chair.
People cant bother to pay attention and the motorcyclist is always the loser in these situations.
I would have exacted payment right then and there out of his hide.

RE: Hungry Valley

Thanks for the advice.
I realized I didnt have up to date registration or insurance cards in my RZR. Just fixed that so I should be okay.
One last question. I have a 39 foot TH 5'er with a 2 wheel drive dually Dodge. Will I have any issues with getting stuck if I drive in.
Happened to me once at Stoddard Wells and it took me a full day to dig out.
Otherwise if anyone is up there this weekend stop by and say hi.

RE: FUZION 373 OR 362?

I looked at both and went with the 362.
My wife liked the counter space/island but I wanted it open and I thought it cluttered up the interior.
